I primarily offer commissions in either black and white, or full colour pastel. My equipment comprises of Pan Pastels which are condensed pastel pigment, allowing to get a quality base layer down to start to build detail on top of. I always use Claire Fontaine Pastel Mat paper as it provides the perfect base for the pastels to be applied to. I finally use multiple layers of Pastel Pencils that enable me to capture and create a detailed and true likeness of your beloved pet.
Your commission will always include a black mount-board frame with a contrasting colour bevelled edge. This really showcases the portrait, creates a beautiful border and really shows off your portrait when framed.
I have several framing options also available to you just to make the piece a truly finished piece of art and saves you having to think about framing once purchased. Multiple colour options and sizes can be discussed to suit colour-themes of the room it will hang in.
Along with the finished portrait, your commission will also come with a signed certificate of authenticity and care guide.
Due to existing commission commitments, I am not always able to produce art work in a short period of time. We will be able to discuss a suitable time-frame for your piece to be completed when you contact me. These art works can take over 12 hours to produce depending on the level of detail required. I will always endeavour to meet any important key dates you may have.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have an occasion in mind.
Throughout the commission, I will keep you up to date with progress and even send you some sneaky photos if you would like (although I do find waiting until the end reveal being the preferred option).
When the time comes that the piece is finished, I can either send photos (which never do the final piece justice) or can arrange a video call where you can see the portrait in all its glory. I will always ask if you want anything changing/adding which is never a problem, I want to make sure you are truly happy with the result.
We can then arrange what the best postage method is best for you. I am more than happy to meet in a convenient location if not travelling too far away. I love to see the clients reaction!
To commission a pet portrait, the quality of reference photo is always very important. The clearer the photo, the better the results will be. Multiple reference photos of the subject are always an advantage and we can then work together to agree the best angle or pose for the portrait. I understand that the subject may be of a pet who went over the rainbow bridge many years ago and photos may not always be as clear or of great quality but I will always try to work my magic with what I have.
I ask for a 50% deposit of the final price at the time of booking. This will then secure your commission in my calendar so I can concentrate on your piece of art. The final balance including postage and packing is payable once you have approved the completed portrait and prior to shipping.
Not sure what to buy for that special person in your life? I also offer gift vouchers, up to a value of your own choosing, or you can specify a product you would like to purchase.
The recipient can then get in touch with me in their own time to go through the finer details.
